…imaginatively unique musical meditations for percussion instruments and spoken word…

A Near-Empty Space is a new concert experience created by Nick Terry (percussionist and Grammy Award winning collaborative artist), examining the intersectionality of music improvisation, composition, movement, and visual arts, with additional inspirations arriving from the fields of mathematics, physics, neuroscience, and philosophy. Performing on an array of acoustic and electronic instruments (dubbed “the Spaceship”), Terry serves as an improvising duo partner to the spoken word of philosophers, scientists, poets, and mystics, inventing transcendent, rhythm-focused music that blends influences from contemporary classical, electronica, and world music.
